Intro to DJing: Learn to Mix Music for Middle Schoolers

Curious about DJing or want to learn how to mix music?

This beginner-friendly workshop is an introduction to the art of DJing, where students will learn how DJs mix songs, understand rhythm and timing, and experiment with creating their own transitions between tracks.

Participants will be introduced to basic concepts like BPM, song structure, and beatmatching, and will have the opportunity to try mixing music themselves using DJ software. No prior experience is needed.

Students are encouraged to bring a laptop and headphones. We will share simple, free or low-cost DJ software that can be used during and after the workshop, making this an accessible way to explore DJing without needing expensive equipment.

A professional DJ controller and sound system will also be available for demonstration and hands-on experience. Students who already have their own equipment are welcome to bring it.
